老人日常活動能力與心血管疾病危險因子相關性之研究:以中興新村為例
Abstract
In order to understand the prevalence of limitation in activities of daily living in elderly people and the relationship between limitation in activities of daily living and the cardiovascular risk factors among elderly people, we conducted a cross-sectional study in Chung-Shing-Shin-Tseun community of Taiwan in May 1998. All of individuals aged 65 and over were collected. A total of 1093 persons, out of a 1774 registered residents, finished questionnaires. The response rate was 61.6%. However, only 586 respondents had blood tests and completed questionnaires. Analysis in this study was based on these 586 subjects. Our results showed that 66.2% were men and 33.8% were women. The mean age was 73.1±5.3 years. The prevalence of limitation in activities of daily living in elderly people was 9.22%. After controlling the other covariates, the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the significant related factors of limitation in activities of daily living were aged 80 or more (odds ratio = 3.28, 95% confidence interval = 1.29-8.40) and hyperglycemia (odds ratio = 2.75, 95% confidence interval = 1.25-6.05). In our conclusion, the older age and the hyperglycemia are risk factors for limitation in activities of daily living in elderly people. Therefore, maintaining normal serum glucose will reduce the probability of limitation in activities of daily living in elderly people.
