Abstract
Cardiac transplantation is no longer considered to be an experimental procedure. Judicious choice of recipients, lengthier experience with immunosuppressive medication, improved surgical technique, and the introduction of cyclosporine have all enhanced survival rate. As improvements were made in the diagnosis and therapy for rejection and infection, graft artherosclerosis became the leading cause of death among long-term survival cardiac transplantation patients.A repeatable non-invasive cardiopulmonary stress can early detect allograft coronary artery disease & predicts its outcome. Moreover, psychological well-being and thus increase the quality of life. Therefore, these examinations are highly recommended for heart transplant patients in the long term follow up.
