障礙兒日間托育與復健治療結合之成效報告
Abstract
The cooperation of Taichung Hsien Assiciation for Retarded Children and Provincial Feng-Yuan Hospital to set up the Day Center of Children Development began since Apr. 4, 1992. This center accept children before school age with psychomotor retardation or cerebral palsy. The main duty was to educate and rehabilitate these children during the day time.The evaluation one year later showed marked improvement in several aspects, including gross motor, fine motor, psychosocial development and self daily care. It influnced the family by making more free time for parents, lowering psychological pressure and improving family interaction/relationship. It had no obvious economic burden to the family, with the balance of output to fee of day care and input from more free time to be used to make money. Families thought it neccessary of combination of rehabilitation and day care for special education, except for those children too small or too easy to catch diseases. The suggestions from parents included insufficient space of day center and rehabilitation area, the timing of day care duration being not facilitated to parents. The parents were worry about further education source of school age and the care problems of the retarded children after parents die.
